Valentine’s with the girls

This year, we had the best ever *PL6* Valentine’s Day – HAHAHAHA boyfriends you SUCK! [Just joking, love you hunny bunny]

Miss Bilin @ Yap Li-Lynn was back in town for a couple more days whilst her bf Mr Robin Jackman was stuck in UK helping Batman curb crime wtf.

My very own Juju the Hainanese Warrior was busy hunting, doing his best to put food on the table. Yes yes I know your job is a highly skilled one <333

With our bfs out of the way, we decided to head on down to Johor Bahru for a Valentine’s reunion with Cris (who is currently undertaking her medicine degree there).

Sadly tho, Shiu Kao was free which meant Yun would be celebrating V Day with him instead of us boo =(

***

This time, unlike many others before, our plans were actually executed and nobody could laugh at us and say we’re damn hangat-hangat tahi ayam.

The bus tickets were bought, everybody went to bed early and the lazy pigs actually managed to wake up on time!!! T.T Cris, please be touched by this.

Arriving at the Pudu bus station, Yen and I were wide-eyed with wonder at the hustle and bustle as neither of us had ever been there.

Still mong cha cha from the lack of sleep.
1

Our noobness was proven when we missed the bus, but fortunately they let us on the next one. In fact, we only noticed we had been left behind when the dude removed our bus number from the board *EHHH WHAT THE HELL what happened to our bus??? Don’t tell me doesn’t exist anymore mehhh???

*WAAAAH the terminals got big bright orange papan wan leh!!!
2

The drive down to JB was rather uneventful as everyone promptly dozed off 10 minutes into the journey. Our only pitstop turned out to be a rather large rest-stop-place-thingy which sold nothing to eat but junk food and rotten fruit, but so hungry was I that I ate the rotten fruit anyway.

Bilin and her crooked backbone.
3

Yenli brought her Mickey Mouse blanky and smelly baby pillow onto the bus, yes.
4

*Sorry Shun, no sleeping photo of you cause you slept like a normal person.

I, being a morning person/Working Aunty, whiled the time away camwhoring.
5

[The rest of them are still unemployed btw and it’s just so depressing everytime I have to go home the earliest cause I’ll be working the next day boo. Get jobs, will you please!!! Then we can all be aunties and go to bed at 10pm everynight yays.]

Pitstop where we ate rotten fruit. If you stare closely enough at Yen’s face you’ll spot a white dot that was strangely captured in the photo. Hmmmm toothpaste ads anyone? *sparkle.
6

By the time we arrived in JB it was almost 2pm and we were starving to death. Thank goodness Cris didn’t take too long to pick us up, and off we went for lunch at the famous Waterworks Laksa (waterworks makes me think of diarrhoea) which charges RM6.50 per bowl omfg, and which was also where Jing Mein stopped by for a short chat.

Met a nice JB uncle who camwhored with us wtf.
7

Following lunch, Cris brought us to a shopping mall, and I can safely say that KL’s shopping rox my sox in the box 1000 times compared to JB, no offense JB folks.

There I was, foolishly asking the Nike salesdude for the new LunaLite, when he started at me blankly and told me they didn’t have such a thing -_- So I went back empty handed and Juju didn’t get his V Day pressie hohohum.

Headed back to Cris’ crib yoyoyo at about 5pm cause we knew we would take forever to get ready for dinner. And we were darn right. By the time everyone was done it was already 7.30pm and we were late for our reservation.

Bespectacled Bilin does sexy hairtease.
8

LOL at Yen’s cute puppydog hands =)
9

Instantaneously turned Cris’ gorgeous room into a cosmetics warzone.
10

Cris and I got done far quicker cause we couldn’t be bothered with putting on thick makeup – which takes waaaaay longer to remove hor – plus the others had on false eyelashes ohhlala.

I wished I had more energy to fuss over my makeup =(
11

*Tick tock hurry up girls!
12

At last everyone was done and dolled up and looking stunning and we ran helter skelter into the car zoom zoom off to the restaurant, which name I do not recall. Which is so sad cause the food there was simply fabulous, exquisite, magnifique, bravo and kudos to the chef wtf.

Sorry hor, I chose the photo without the flash cause it makes me look less ugly compared to you all =)
13

Opened a bottle of red to celebrate (oooh that rhymes wtf), and LOL at Yen’s distorted face.
14

I really cherish times like this T.T
15

And at the end of the night, our mission to spoil the V Day dinner for other couples was accomplish BWAHAHAHA if we can’t have a romantic dinner with our bfs, neither can you!!! *evil grins. Cause we yakked so damn loudly we could be heard from every corner of the restaurant, even from inside the toilet, damn kampung girls hoho. Only sad thing was that I felt like shit cause my tummy ‘masuk angin’ and I was seriously sleepy already.

Every soul in the restaurant heaved a sigh of relieve to see us go heh.
16

Carrying on with the romantic theme, Cris brought us to Danga Bay for a stroll by the beach. By then, we were a little tipsy from the wine cause all of us SUCK at drinking wtf we even tapaued HALF the bottle home damn malufying okay.

Cris showing off her scary (and illegal) taser!
17

The girls camwhoring while I went to lineup outside the toilet for like half an hour!!
18

Random signboard? I dunno.
19

The place was crawling with activity – from cyclists and choochoo trains threatening to kill unwary pedestrians, to super overpriced funfair rides, to loads of al fresco restaurants to hang out and have drinks at.

Neon lights at Danga Beach.
20

Dug our heels into the sand to take a pic with a cruise ship, and duly got our toes bitten by huge red ants =(
21

3 tigers and 2 pigs (the pig looks like a rabbit tho).
29

ANTM moment 😉
22

Went home and quickly removed our makeup and jumped into bed. But of course we didn’t go right to sleep, we camwhored for a long while first heh.

Takes skillz to take photos like these without a cameraman yo!
23

This is how girls look like when they dream of LVs and Guccis.
24

Hantu photo.
25

Yes, this is the same hot Bilin, I lie not. Yes, Robin, the same girl you go to bed with at night, better not turn off the lights hmmm?
26

The girls chatted on for a couple more hours but I was already fast asleep, exhausted from a lack of sleep and the long eventful day.

The next morning was a Crazy Hectic Amazing Race to the bus terminal cause we were sooooo late (no thanks to Lam Shun Chin) but fortunately we caught the bus just as it was about to depart. Damn malufying cause all the bus and taxi drivers there kept laughing at us and shouting “AWAS AMOI! Jangan lari nanti jatuh!”.

Our ride home ended quite abruptly cause Bilin’s dad had asked us to tell the bus driver to let us off just after the Sungai Besi toll. Which was exactly what he did.

“Bangun bangun, sudah sampai!”

Groggy from sleep, the 4 of us got off the bus only to discover we were stranded literally right after the Sungai Besi toll.

*EH WHAT THE HELL??! What are we supposed to do??
27

Sat under the shade of some huge advertising signboard while waiting for Bilin’s dad to come rescue us.
28

Bilin’s dad managed to find us not too long after, and all of us gladly piled into his car, relieved to be in the comfort of air-conditioning once again.

After that, I did not go home, but instead headed straight for Juju’s house for yet another Valentine’s adventure, but that’s gonna have to be another blog post 😉

The Singing Mountain Princess

I just found out that I’ve gained a whole kilo in the past couple of months, and this just goes to show how slowly life passes by when you work for the government.

My enlarged bottom aside, I recently applied for a nametag (you know, the black and white teacher kind) but I’m rather sad to say it got rejected.

Simply because some people think BARBIE SOO “bukan nama yang serious”.

BARBIE betul!

Had a nice cultural night out with the girls plus one Mr Soon Seng at the theatre last week; the play in question was Puteri Gunung Ledang, which is currently already in its third running season. Woots! I bet nobody expected a Malaysian play to ever survive this long!

But in all honesty, the play brought some Malaysian pride home momma! Prior to that miraculous night, I never thought Malaysians could actually sing! Dahlah so hensem samo *swoons. I suppose then, that it’s not the singers but the lousy piracy-infested industry that sucks.

For that extra ummph! touch, we all wore (my) baju kurungs. Except for the dude of course, who would have looked silly, not to mention burst a button or two, had he tried. Oh wait, yeah, dudes wear baju melayu wtf my bad.

Kurung clad us plus somebody looking silly even in normal clothes.
1

Us trying to keep up with Soon Seng, inside the theatre.
2

Post-show autograph session: Hang Tuah, Puteri Blalalaverylongname aka. Puteri Gunung Ledang, and the princess’ nanny who eventually committed suicide in the play awww T-T.
3

This was when they spotted someone they knew *seramnye.
4

Only got to take pics with one of the kelefeh.
5

TARA! A door wtf. Well at least it’s quite an impressive one hmph.
6

And after that we drove to SS2 to bury our hunger pangs in KTZ’s honeydew lo and double boiled hasma with red dates and lo mai kai etcetc do not remember other chinese food names.

First time they had such greedy chinese looking malay customers wtf.
7

Bilin damn berskillz okay, can hold the camera and take photo sambil makan! Dis is what we callz natural talent.
8

Fast forward a week and my friend tells me that all shows have been fully booked wowwie! I can’t wait til they come up with another musical =)

A Touch-up, Jogoya and Plenty of Wonderous Cosmetics!

SATURDAY

First up, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Alfie who turned 23, and FAREWELL to Su Khok who flew back to the UK all too soon boohoo we’ll miss you!!! T_T

1

The gang had dinner at Pasta Zanmai in 1U before heading back to the comfort of home to cut a very special cake.

Very special indeed, as it was bought by Yenli’s cousin from Cold Storage wtf I am so sorry Alfred.

2

Cake was cut into half cause Alfred said that he had already cut 3 cakes so far, and he didn’t want this to be the fourth since 4 = sei so wth we just cut the cake into two to make it a nice 5 cakes for him. Damn cheapskate makan Mentos solution wtf. Oh yah and because of that we could only fit 22 years worth of candles on it otherwise one side would have extra ish.

SUNDAY

The girls and I had a rowdy day out at a salon to give our hair a much needed makeover. The chosen salon was SuperStyle in Summit which is definitely not a top-notched one but wth everyone was broke so sorry lah if my frizzy hair flies into your coffee.

Bilin dyed her hair a nice ashy brown, Yenli turned her hair red (AS USUAL), Shun got another bob and I touched up my frizzy regrowths.

Oh hey, now I’m starting to see the resemblance to a gnome!
7

Gnome Bilin, Shun and Yenli.
8

Yen wiping her face with the chemical-stained cloth.
9

Yen looks damn stupid/aunty with her head wrapped up sitting under a Star Trek device sipping water bwahahaha.
10

As always, we turned the place into a circus, with our loud meaningless chattering and laughter and constant moving about and rolling of water bottles on the floor wtf (because we couldn’t get up to pass it to each other).

And at one point there was a total communication breakdown cause the only person who speaks Cantonese is Yenli thus rendering the rest of us helpless when she left the room. Shun totally bewildered and confused her stylist with her version of Cantonese til the poor dude almost gave up trying to cut her hair nyeh.

I swear, the stylists had as much fun as we did, we were that amusing!
11

The non-double-chin exposing angle.
12

Yen getting curls from a skunk.
13

Although the makeover didn’t quite turn me into a SuperStar wtf *awwww disappointed* I was quite pleased, taking into account the price and entertainment provided by its idiotic looking skunk stylists.

TADRAA!! Finished products – all 4 hour’s worth.

MONDAY

As you all know, Monday was a public holiday and much to my delight Juju wasn’t working either so we made plans for karaoke with the girls and dinner for two at Jogoya *slurps* =)))

Karaoke was hilarious cause I dunno why lar but we’re JUST SO AMUSING wtf. And I loved the room cause it had it’s own toilet hoho Neway rocks RM20 each only samo damn cheap.

Poor Juju was the only dude but I’m pretty sure he had a blast as well. See, it’s not always a trap when we invite guys to join our activities hmph! At least we let him sing his stupid meaningless “Jatuh cinta lagi, lagi lagi aku jatuh cinta. Aku jatuh cinta, pada setiap wanita” song.

15

After the session ended, it drizzled a little.

Just a tiny wee bit, I swear.

And then Juju and I headed off to KL for our dinner woots. I simply love Jogoya cause the layout concept rocks and everything looks so pretty and all the food is so yummy and there’s so much to choose from. And they even have cosy little secluded tables for two so we had lots of privacy! <333

I ate 4 of these monsters!
16

Raindrops on whiskers, sashimi in my mouth. Yah doesn’t rhyme cannot is it?
20

AAAHHMMMMMMMM!
17

Act cute ah? (Shit I sound damn lala)
19

You just can’t go there and not try their coconuts!
18

Er… Clipped to death?
21

WOAH check out my eyebags! Only slept a couple of hours the night before courtesy of somebody‘s constant bugging =p
24

By the time we started on the desserts I was already so full I had shitted halfway through the meal. I’m so gross too bad so sad.
22

Love you my pumpkin pie!

COSMETICS MY FAV!

I spent quite a bit on cosmetics the past month so here’s a (rather premature) review of the stuff I bought:

Eye gel: SKII Advanced Eye Treatment Film RM129
25

Bad : Very watery and takes forever to dry so I can’t put my makeup anytime soon. Doesn’t seem to be doing much as can be seen from eyebaggy photos above, but I guess I just need more sleep.

Good: No idea, I guess my eye area isn’t as dry? We shall access it’s touted wrinkle-preventing efficacy 5 years down the road ya.

Moisturiser: SKII Facial Clear Solution RM225
6

Bad: Again, too watery, takes forever to dry and it goes on a little sticky. Why are all SKII products so ridiculously cheong hei named? Eg. why can’t they call their toner “Toner” instead of “Facial Treatment Clear Lotion” wtf damn confusing BAH!

Good: No new pimples seem to be popping up hmm touch wood. And my skin does feel a tiny bit less oily, although I’m supposed to wait a month before expecting any results. Definitely a lot less oily in texture than my previous Estee Lauder stuff.

Refiner: Biotherm Biopur Concentrate RM180
3

Bad: Seriously overpriced for just 30ml! I bought this at the very last minute at the Bali airport because we had extra Rupiah.

Good: Shrinked the pores on my nose a little, leaves skin with a matte finish.

Deodorant: Kiehl’s Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Cream RM40
5

Bad: Another product with a tediously cheong hei gimmicky name. What else…er… it’s kinda pricey I guess.

Good: This is seriously the bestest product ever!!! It’s this nice soothing gel thing that isn’t really too inconvenient to use and dries up real fast. It doesn’t contain any alcohol (DUH) unlike most other deodorants, so it doesn’t hurt when you use in immediately after shaving your pits. AND BEST OF ALL, it actually works!!! Somewhat better than my Sebamed deodorant, even. Yays!

And now let’s move on to a discussion about foundations.

I don’t know why those dumb counter assistants all have this penchant for recommending shades that are waaaay too dark for me.

And by too dark I mean like at least 2 shades darker. Which makes me look like a bigger fool than I already am for actually buying the products.

1. MAC Studiofix RM100+ 2. Laura Mercier loose powder RM150 3. Laura Mercier compact RM159 4. MAC Minerals RM130
4

I actually got the Laura Mercier loose powder off Ebay which explains why it’s waaaay off mark in terms of its shade. Hardly use it since Malaysia’s weather doesn’t afford me the pleasure of using liquid foundation anyways =(

On the way back in the ferry from Paris to UK (chewah) I bought the MAC Studiofix in the duty-free shop and GOD! I’ll live to regret that day! Seriously the Studiofix is so bad, I would have thrown it out even if it had been the right colour! Which it is most definitely not. Confirm NOT RECOMMENDED.

Not ready to give up on MAC’s foundations, I went ahead and bought from their newly released Minerals range, and yet again was given the wrong shade. GAH! Anyways I forced myself to stick with the foundation, even though it looked ridiculous, for as long as I could. Did not really like the finish either, and I think it made me breakout.

MAC I hate you T_T

My MAC Minerals was about 70% used up when I finally decided enough was enough and bought meself another Laura Mercier product (number 3).

Much to my glee, they finally got the shade right!!!

You compare lah, 1 and 3, damn kao a lot of difference ohkay!

However, it is a tad too yellow-based so I don’t think I’ll be getting it again after this one finishes. Oh and the sponge applicator sucks real bad cause it’s so rough it literally makes my skin hurt wth! Overall it’s quite good, just needs to be applied with a proper foundation brush kua.

So that’s all for today’s cosmetics education folks I am hungry and need to go eat dinner wth.

Anybody from SKII/Procter & Gamble reading this, please hire me! I have a Masters of Pharmacy wtf.

Rumusan Tahun Baru Cina

Spent the first day of CNY at my paternal grandma + uncle’s house up in Ipoh, and was duely embarassed by Daddy who thought it was his house and started opening snacks and cookies and offering them to my grandma + uncle WHO LIVE THERE wtf. Worse still, he kept saying “mm sai hak hei” (don’t segan) and “sek toh tit lar” (eat more lar). HELLO it’s their food and their house lar!

Went straight from Ipoh to Juju’s granny’s house ohlala so fast meeting granny already! Thank god I don’t have the same habits as Daddy or else I might have gotten myself kicked out. “Po, sek toh tit lar, lei chu hou sek leh!

Fell asleep afterwards, and woke up with a strange mark imprinted on my tummy.

Mmm. OX. Doesn’t that ring a bell?
1

I refuse to believe that this is just a case of seeing what I want to see cause it’s a pretty well-defined “OX”. And no I did not scratch my own skin, I just woke up and it was already there like that.

WOOHOO look’s like this is totally gonna be a good year for me =) Juju was ecstatic cause he was born in the year of the Ox too. Mmmm but I’m a Tiger, does that mean I’ll gobble him up?

From this direction it looks like “XO?” (Yes there’s a question mark). Are the god’s asking if I like to drink Hennessy XO?
2

Second day of CNY was spent recuperating from the exhaustion of work + Bali + layaning my dad’s thick face + too much cookies.

And then it was off to Malacca to visit my mum’s side, which is never an easy task seeing as they all speak Hokkien oh lordy! Thank goodness they do also know Mandarin, and of course my Mandarin had improved so much over the past few years *cough* that I was even able to tell them IN MANDARIN that I DO NOT PLAN on getting married anytime soon *jual mahal.

3

Do not remember what I did for the next few of my Annual Leave days, must have just slept them away boohoo =(

And then Bilin the Lilin finally managed to touch down in Malaysia (after missing a precious £400 flight due to the worstest timing for giving in to Gucci/Dior/etc distractions) so we all had a jolly dinner together at Pizza Uno.

Or rather, we girls did. I think Su Khok was in pain the whole night.

4

I dunno, we always seem to end up talking about inappropriate girly stuff when we get together, regardless of company and surrounding.

“Yaaa my BRA damn uncomfortable laaa”
“I remember last time your BRA can see nipple wtf”
*Poke Bilin’s BRA.

5

But I suppose that’s just what girl friends are for.

6

Dinner ended unusually early at about 10.30pm cause I was working the next day. As I was walking off, I overheard the girls bitching about me.

Bilin: Working people SUCK!
Yen: Yalar, that AUNTY need to go home and sleep already…

Wtf. Not like I WANT to work wan okay if someone threw 10million bucks in my face I would quit my ‘job’ (Note: The inverted commas are there for a reason) in a heartbeat.

Work really is a bitch sigh.

On Friday, the Chinese clan at my office organized a lou sang lunch together and about 40 people turned up. The venue chosen was the popular New Paris Restaurant in SS2 which was packed to the brim with noisy Chinese people.

Sara, Voon Yuen and Barbie Soo wtf.
7

If you asked me to rate the restaurant, I would probably award it just 5/10, cause I don’t think the food was really anything to talk about. Goodness knows why so many people go there, maybe cause it’s not too expensive, I have no idea.

8

The 40 people consisted of colleagues from both the Bureau and Bahagian (that is, Bahagian Perkhidmatan Farmasi). Most of the people were complete strangers to me, which shows how noobish I am.

The incomplete Bureau PRP Gang (Provisionally Registered Pharmacist aka NOOB)
9

Right after lunch we went back to the office only to countdown til clock-out time. Friday’s are always such a blessing cause lunch hour is soooooo long =)

And then I went back home to sleep and was 1 hour late for another CNY dinner with the Bureau gang. This time, the other Bureau PRPs who are currently posted in hospitals (for 2 months) were able to attend so it was a jollier crowd.

10

Dinner was at Tasty Pot in Bandar Sunway and please don’t ask me to rate the food there either cause Imma start bitching again. I think it’s sufficient to say I paid RM25 for a buffet dinner but came home hungry.

So that was my CNY so far, tho we still have a couple more days to go til Chap Goh Meh. Am not going to throw oranges into a river tho cause I don’t think Juju would be too happy.

Until next time, toodles my friends.

(Will be updating pretty soon cause Monday is a public holiday woots!)
